12 days of Christmas, Day 3

Happy Turkey Day!

I am LOVING this hop so far!  There's so much talent here, and I'm sure that you are too.  Thank you for taking part of your holiday and spending it with us.  I am grateful!  Me?  Oh, I'll be elbow deep in 2 (yes 2!) turkeys today!

Now, on to my project!

Another easy project!  See, simple is my semi-theme this year.  I used the same Faith pack papers that I used yesterday.  Here's what you'll need:

4" square of paper, cut into a triangle shape.  (accordian fold this from bottom to top)
A2 size card
glue stick
twine.

Ok, so everyone remember making paper fans in grade school?  Yup, do the same thing!  I have more of these little trees that you'll see later in the hop. :)  (great idea came to me when I made this card.  Well, I think it is anyway.)

Use the glue stick to glue on the tree, and the bow to the cardstock.  If you wish, you could stamp a sentiment on the bottom, but I chose to keep it simple and write my message inside!

Now, on to my question...

What is your most hated thing about this season?  Mine is I ALWAYS feel rushed, like I HAVE to get things done or the entire holiday will be ruined and it'll be all my fault and I'll be hated and ostracized Scarlet Letter style!  You know the feeling- "Burn her, she's a witch!" shout the villagers kind of thing....

Have a wonderful day, a fabulous holiday and see you tomorrow, lovelies!

12 days of Christmas- Day 2

Hey y'all, welcome back!

I'm having so much fun doing this hop!

Here's today's lineup.  If you're here on your own, please start at Lisa's blog at Honeybearz Designs (first link) and you can hop along with us!  I'm the last in the hop, so thanks for sticking with us so far!

My project today is another simple one!

See?  Oh, seriously- ignore my cobwebs.  (As you can see, we're still decorated for Halloween! Sure... that's what we'll call it!)

You'll need:
bakers twine
1" hole punch
different colored paper (I used The Paper Stuido's "Faith" pack.)
glue stick.

Another project to do with the kiddos!
Measure out a length of twine and arrange 1/2 your circles on it.  Glue stick the rounds and add a topper.  basically, you're stringing the paper along the twine and making a 1" paper circle sandwich out of it.

These actually turned out a lot cuter than I expected them to!  I plan on making a huge one with the kids later so we can string it on the tree, and the mantle!

So, today my question is what is your favorite thing to do with small peoples during the holidays?  We do several things, because I'm convinced the memories are much better than the "things" they'll get.  I mean, seriously- do you remember everything you got for your 9th Christmas?  No?  me neither.  But, anyway, we have a gingerbread house competition (I make gingerbread houses and we decorate them.  I'll be easier to buy them, but with 6 kids that crap can get expensive!), and we go "Light Seeing" with some homemade hot chocolate.  We decorate cookies (also take with us when we go look at lights) and I do a Christmas Eve box- with new pajamas in it- I sew their pants and give them a new t-shirt in it, they get a pack of hot chocolate and we make popcorn while we watch the Nativity Story.

Those are our kid-traditions. :)

12 days of Christmas, Day 1

Hey, y'all!

It's Christmastime again!  I'm so excited.  Another year gone quickly and in truth it kind of flew by for me!  Oh, guess what- we're expecting baby #7!

Ok, my news is up, so welcome to the blog hop with Honeybearz Designs!  I'm so honored that Lisa has asked me again to be in it!  Ok, I lied- I kind of begged her.  I mean on a level of talent, everyone else in this hop is Martha Stewart and I'm sitting here like Internet Explorer.

So, here's the lineup.

Are you having fun yet?  Because I am!  I am loving everyone's creations!

On to mine....

This year, I wanted to go more "simple".  Basically, I wanted kids to be able to do this.  I used things that I already had, and of course, you probably won't have them on hand, but lucky for you- you can likely get it from the dollar store!

Ok, this is what I did:

see?  Simple!

This is what I used:
1 red glass vase,
Glitter paper (3" wide)
rick rack (Hobby Lobby)
1 button (walmart, in a pack of like 100 or something.)
glue stick!

Cut the tree out of glitter paper.  I used my paper cutter, we call it a "schwonk", because that's the sound it makes.  Yeah, I have kids, what can I do?  Glue it to the vase.  Make a bow out of rick rack and glue it to the bottom.  Glue a button to the top.  Light candle inside.  BOOM, BABY!  Done!

As always, I ask a question after the post.  So, my question today is:  What type of Christmas do you do?  Do you do full-on North Pole set up in your home, or do you just put up a Charlie Brown Christmas tree?  I prefer something in between.

Thanks for stopping by, and I'll see you tomorrow!
